Tommy Nance and wife, Diane
Tommy and Diane Nance came to us from New Hanover Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville, VA. where he had 20 years of successful ministry. Tommy's experience with traditional and contemporary services, his experience with growing churches. and exciting style of presenting God's word were primary in the mind of the committee responsible for bringing Tommy to St. Petersburg. By the way, his preference is "Tommy", not Tom or Thomas.
We are thrilled that they have accepted the challenge to propel NEPC to the next level for God. To say that Tommy is a "people person" is an understatement. With Diane at the controls of the GPS, the Nance pair are well on their way to visiting every member, affiliated member, and friend of NEPC. Tommy and Diane are regulars on the sidewalks of Shore Acres. If you ask, they may tell you it is a method of "girth control" that is necessary after all the fabulous food NEPC members serve up.
Tommy and Diane met in high school and began dating at age 15. By the time they graduated they knew they would marry, but decided to wait until they completed college. Diane graduated from Longwood College in Farmville, VA while Tommy earned his first degree from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA. They were both in the field of education. Tommy was a math teacher, a coach and then a principal in the Richmond Public Schools.. They had been married 13 years when he felt his call to the ministry, his passion. Four years later he became Dr.Thomas W. Nance, Jr, but everyone knows him as “Tommy”.
Even though their three children are out on their own, Diane and Tommy are far from letting "moss grow on their rolling stone". Between work, ball games, walks and golf links, the time in the "Nance Manse" is filled with activity. (by the way, yes, they do have a plaque that proclaims their house the "Nance Manse")
Call or come by the church to meet Tommy and understand how God is using Tommy to take the Lord's ministry to the next level at NEPC.
